Asset Ranks
Asset Ranks are used to identify the relative importance of an asset. For example, some assets may be classified as standard assets and others might be deemed critical. These values populate the Asset Rank drop-down menu on the Asset module's Create Asset and Find Asset pages.
To open the Asset Ranks page::
-
Open the Administration Menu page.
-
Under the ASSET ADMIN heading, click Asset Ranks.
To add an asset rank:
-
In the Add Asset Rank field, enter the name of the asset rank.
This is the value that will be displayed to users.
Asset rank names must be unique. If you attempt to add an asset rank that already exists, an error message will appear. The system does not consider asset rank names that are differentiated only by character case or spaces to be unique. For example, if you create an asset rank named "Top Level", creating an asset rank named "topLevel" or " Top Level " is not allowed.
-
In the Value field, enter a numerical value corresponding to the asset rank.
-
Click ADD.
A dialog box opens asking you to confirm your choice.
-
Click OK.
Once you have created an asset rank, you can further define it or edit it. To edit an asset rank:
-
In the Asset Rank field, select the asset rank to edit.
-
Skip the Value field; this field is reserved for future implementation.
-
To change the name of the asset rank, enter a value in the Rename field.
All historical information will reflect the new value.
Asset rank names must be unique. If you attempt to rename an asset rank to a name that already exists, an error message will appear. The system does not consider asset rank names that are differentiated only by character case or spaces to be unique. For example, if the asset rank "Top Level" exists, renaming an asset rank "topLevel" or " Top Level " is not allowed.
-
To change the display order, enter a value in the Tab Order field.
The Tab Order indicates the position, in menus, where this value will be listed. Lower numbered values are displayed toward the top of the list. Values will the same tab order will be sorted alphabetically.
-
Select a value in the Restricted Asset Flag field.
Flagging an asset rank as Restricted, restricts certain types of access to all assets given that rank. If an asset is Restricted, it cannot be modified and a schedule containing it cannot be generated unless the user has the Update Restricted Assets security right. For more information, see User Security.
-
To change the status, select a value from the Status field.
Asset ranks with a status of Inactive are not displayed to users. However, inactivating an asset rank does not affect the existing assets that utilize it.
-
Click UPDATE.
Asset ranks that have not been used can be deleted from the system.
Asset ranks that have been associated with an asset cannot be deleted, but they can be inactivated to prevent users from accessing them.
To delete an asset rank:

In the Asset Rank field, select the value to delete.
-
Click DELETE.
A dialog box opens asking you to confirm your choice.

Click OK.
